Course Description

Join us for an excursion to The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, located in Boca Raton, FL. Founded in 1984, it is a unique cooperative project of the City of Boca Raton, the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District, Florida Atlantic University, and Friends of Gumbo Limbo. This private, guided tour will be conducted by a coastal naturalist who will answer your questions and guide you through the Turtle Rehabilitation Facility, where an average of 50-100 patients and 200-300 hatchlings are treated annually. Participants will then tour the FAU observation gallery and learn about the critical research being conducted on sea turtle hatchlings. After the tour, the indoor Nature Center and boardwalk are for you to enjoy on your own. Participants will park in the OLLI Boca parking lot at FAU and shuttle to the Center promptly at 10 a.m. The shuttle will return to FAU by 1 p.m. Registration is open until November 29th. Space is limited, so register early for this unique experience.
