Course Description

Join us for an in-depth discussion of Theatre Lab's upcoming World Premiere production of "Refuge," co-created by Satya Jnani Chávez and Andrew Rosendorf. Original music, artistic puppetry, and magical realism allow this bilingual tale to tackle the immigration crisis through a beautiful, unique lens. Chronicling the harrowing journey of one young Honduran girl as she crosses the US border into the inhospitable, barren land of Texas, "Refuge" is an exploration of empathy and America, who we are, and who we say we are. Learn what it takes to bring a new play to life! Join Theatre Lab's producing artistic director, Matt Stabile, for an in-depth discussion on every step in the process of this world production, from pre-production to opening night. Working with partner companies across the country (Curious Theatre in Denver, CO & Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City, MO), Theatre Lab is thrilled to complete its season of world premieres with the final installment of this National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere!
