How to Live in a Data-Driven World: The Fundamentals, Hope, Hype, and Trust Issues with Artificial Intelligence

Oge Marques

Course Description

Dr. Marques will be giving his presentation via Zoom. You may watch it from home or with your fellow OLLI patrons at the FAU Fort Lauderdale Campus (HEC312) location.

We live in a world connected by social networks and dominated by technological advances, apps, and gadgets, which have changed how we read the news, get travel directions, take pictures, check the weather forecast, and stay in touch with friends and family. Together with advances in high-speed cellular data networks, increasing availability of Wi-Fi “hot spots,” big data analytics, and artificial intelligence, it has never been easier to stay connected 24/7. This talk will discuss the current state of (and hype around) AI and provide strategies to navigate this ocean of new technologies and apps in a safe and meaningful way.
